School of Spirituality

Christian life is a pilgrimage of growth and progress in holiness. Christianity is a way of life. Jesus is the Way. If we are to follow the Way, then we have many ways of living out the Gospel.

The Desert Fathers (and Mothers) were basically Christian drop-outs. Francis of Assisi preached poverty and love. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, asks us to be contemplatives in action, and Benedict teaches us about life in community, order and obedience to superiors. These are just a few of the many Christian spiritualities from which we each draw our very own unique way of responding to God’s call in our lives today.

In the fall of 2011, St. Francis of Assisi Adult Faith Formation began offering a series on the many different types of spirituality. You are invited to learn about the teachings and practices of the spiritual masters and mystics and how they can be utilized by 21st century believers.

Look for more information about the School of Spirituality series in the Forum, our weekly Parish bulletin or contact Marty Lucas, Director of Adult Formation at mlucas [at] stfrancisa2 [dot] org or 734-821-2125.
